We are here now and it's absolutely grim. Apartment infested with flies had to kill about 40 when we walked in and have woke up to loads more this morning. We had to sleep on the leather sofa bed in living room there was no bedding, no pillows and it was so uncomfortable didn't sleep a wink. The noise is horrendous till 5am and the curtains are rubbish so it's daylight at 4am also! Cleanliness is awful as well. We have another night tonight and absolutely dreading it

So firstly the location of the apartment is brilliant - just off the Royal Mile. The price at New Year for 5 adults was a bargain given the hype of festivities (which were amazing). We stayed in apartment 4 for 2 nights. The entrance and stairs to the apartment leave a lot to be desired but this is really beyond anyone’s control. Apartment 4 is tired and basic in appearance. It was cold and it was nosy but it was New Year and it is Scotland. Thick blankets were provided and heaters in every room did make a big difference - the bedrooms heat up nicely but those sleeping on the sofa bed in the living room should pack their bed socks! We didn’t spend a lot of time in the apartment but to sleep really. There are pubs downstairs so it is nosy and it isn’t double glazed but like I say the location and price really are factors for considering this apartment. Bedding, WIFi and (basic) toiletries were provided. The kitchen is the coldest of all the rooms so we tended to keep out of there and just keep the door closed. Depends what you are looking for - we just needed room for 5 adults and walking distance from the Street Party, this apartment met those requirements.

Excellent accommodation right in the heart of Edinburgh!

Our family of 5 stayed in Flat 3 in August, right in the middle of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. We had such a wonderful experience here, we absolutely loved it and thought the accommodation was excellent quality and value. After arriving on the overnight train from London, we were (gratefully) allowed to check in early in order to freshen up. The female staff were amazing and so helpful in assisting my husband to carry up our luggage (as with most residential buildings in Europe - no elevator!), we were very thankful to them. The apartment itself was incredibly spacious, with 2 bedrooms (1 double bed, 2 single beds) and the living room sofa converted into a large double/queen bed. Plenty of bedding was supplied for the living room sofa. The bathroom was spotless, lots of amenities, and a massive shower! The kitchen and living room both had amazing views down to the square (Hunter Square?) nearby, and we were able to watch street performers from here! The location was perfect, we really were right in the heart of it all and just a few steps up to the Royal Mile. After we had spent the day wandering the streets of Edinburgh, my children and I headed to bed early and my husband went downstairs to the pub to catch some of the comedy acts. The girls and I slept perfectly soundly, and couldn't hear any street noise at all. Overall, our experience at Niddry Street was perfect and we couldn't have asked for anything better - it was clean, spacious, had comfortable beds and was ideally located. Thank you Niddry Street for a wonderful experience!

Good location

The location is the best part of the stay. The area can be noisy in the evening specially if you are sleeping in the sofa bed in the living room of the apartment number 4. Not double glazed in the living room so you can hear the noise coming from the pub and it can be cold during the winter. Although the apartment is clean and tidy, the towels are not changed daily and one towel smells musty like it hasn’t been dried properly. Also not a good idea if you are travelling with heavy luggages as there is no lift. We had to bring our luggages to the fourth floor and survived a very steep staircase with a bad smell coming from the second floor where yhe kitchen of the pub is located. There were two days we have to endured the green pack of fresh towel and linens that are parked in the staircase which is very dangerous as the steps are very narrow. All in all not going to come back.
